WHAT IS CACO₃ LIMESTONE POWDER?

CaCO₃ stone powder is a type of stone powder ground from acid-coated and uncoated limestone originating from Nghe An. This is one of the provinces with the largest white limestone reserves in Vietnam.

The limestone used for grinding is a sedimentary rock. Its main chemical composition is the minerals calcite and aragonite (different crystalline forms of calcium carbonate CaCO3). Limestone is rarely in pure form but is often mixed with impurities such as: chert, silica, igneous rock, clay, mud, sand, or bitumen, etc. This has greatly affected the color of the mineral. Currently, this type of rock has many colors from white to gray, light blue, yellow, even dark pink or black.

Physical properties of CaCO3

• It is a solid, insoluble in water. To identify the stone powder, we can put it in HCL acid solution to produce odorless, colorless gas.
• CaCO3+ 2HCl → CaCl2+ H2O + CO2.

Chemical properties of CaCO3:

Reacts with strong acids to produce salt and water with gas released.

• CaCO3+ 2HCl → CaCl2+ H2O + CO2.

Poor heat resistance:

• CaCO₃ –^to→ CaO + CO_2.

Step 1: Quarrying limestone blocks

To get high quality stone powder products, the most important step is to find raw materials from mines with high CaCO3 content.

In Vietnam, according to experts, the mine in Nghe An has limestone quality that achieves high whiteness and purity.

Then we use dynamite to blast these rocks, then collect limestone in raw form => Bring limestone to the factory => Proceed to classify and wash the stone => Dry the stone => Transferring stone to warehouse

Step 2: Crush limestone into stone powder

After entering the warehouse, the raw materials will be classified according to size and whiteness => Put into a hammer crusher to obtain stone particles of gradually smaller sizes.

Use a hammer crusher to crush the stone => These stone particles will follow the conveyor belt to the magnet racks to attract all metal impurities in the stone particles => After passing through the magnet racks, these stone particles are put into a fine powder grinder to form stone powder with sizes such as: 70, 45, 20 or 8 microns…
